Identify Book Parts

A book has different parts. The FRONT COVER has the title (the name of the book). The BACK COVER often has a short description. The PAGES inside have the story. Knowing the parts of a book helps you find what you need.

Where is the title of the book?

The title is the BIG name of the book — you see it on the FRONT cover when you pick up the book.

Where are the pictures and the story?

Inside the book, after you open the cover, you find the pages with the story and pictures.

Tips

  • Front cover = title + author + main picture.
  • Back cover = a short bit about the book.
  • Pages = where the story lives.
  • An author writes the words; an illustrator draws the pictures.
