Identify the End Mark
Every sentence ends with one of three marks: a FULL STOP (.) for a telling sentence, a QUESTION MARK (?) for an asking sentence, or an EXCLAMATION MARK (!) for something exciting or loud.
Worked examples
What end mark does this sentence need? — 'Where is the cat'
It's asking a question (where is the cat). So it needs a QUESTION MARK at the end: 'Where is the cat?'
Answer: ?
What end mark does this sentence need? — 'Look out'
It's a warning — loud and exciting. So it needs an EXCLAMATION MARK at the end: 'Look out!'
Answer: !
